STI is leveraging its success with HTS products in the wireless industry to develop 2G HTS wire for large, emeerging markets

Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence

Our Class A facility in Austin is an ideal site for our Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AMCE) that will incorporate all of our Conductus^® Superconducting wire processes under one roof. Our manufacturing strategy integrates all value-add stages of the process, from technology development to volume production and finally shipping the end-product from one facility. Our AMCE concept allows instant feedback to co-located processes where ideas, inspirations, improvements and corrective action control measures are streamlined and aligned. The opening of our AMCE facility in Austin is an important milestone for STI that places us on track to achieve commercial availability of Conductus^® 2G HTS wire in 2013. This new facility positions us to meet the growing expectations of our prospective customers by significantly increasing our production capacity.

Located in the heart of Austin’s premiere industrial sector at 9101 Wall Street, the 94,000 square foot Class A semiconductor building is equipped with upgrades including state of the art clean rooms with loading gantries, HEPA filtration, automated HVAC air handlers and exhaust system, and processed chilled water.

The new facility addresses STI’s growth expectations for the Conductus wire initiative. The opening of the new facility has been scheduled to coincide with the delivery of the first superconducting wire production ready equipment. Initial equipment is scheduled for delivery and installation in the first quarter of 2012.
