Engineering Positions:

SAW Filter Designer

SAW Filter Designer, responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of radio frequency and microwave circuits, assemblies and sub-assemblies. Specifically surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonators, filters, multiplexers … Will work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers in supporting product development and R&D programs.

Min. BSEE degree, MSEE preferred with 3-8 years experience, or equivalent. Hands-on radio frequency design and measurement experience required. Wide background in RF front end design is highly desirable. Experience with other miniaturized acoustic filter technologies (e.g. crystal, BAW, FBAR, and/or MEMS) desirable. Familiarity with one or more design tools such as ADS, Ansoft Designer, Sonnet, HFSS, MATLAB, AutoCAD is assumed. Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a cross-functional team is a must.

Senior RF Engineer III/IV

Sr. RF Engineer III-IV position in RF Filter and Subsystem design, responsible for new and existing products. Requires the ability to perform detail design and analysis, assist in build-up of prototypes, ensure that designs are tested and qualified for production , and see designs through production to ensure highly reliable and cost effective products are produced.

Competence in machine shop tools, such as mill, lathe, drill press and sheet metal break is required. Min. BSEE degree, MSEE preferred, & 8 yrs. experience, or equivalent. A broad background in RF Filter and subsystem design is highly desirable. Experience in dielectric filters a must. computer skills to create reports and project management (Microsoft Office Suite), for design documentation, and for analysis (Sonnet, Ansoft Designer, HFSS). Ability to debug and critique circuit and systems designs is assumed.

Thin Film Research Scientist

Responsibilities include:

  • Fabrication, processing, and characterization of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) and other thin film materials in an R&D environment
  • Fabrication of HTS thin film circuits including photolithographic processing, etching, ion milling, dicing, metals deposition, and wirebonding
  • Perform cryogenic measurements, and coordinate work with others within a research team and with associates outside of STI
  • Develop materials, techniques, and structures for lower-cost fabrication of HTS RF filters utilizing alternative substrates and deposition procedures
  • Develop DC and RF testing techniques, processes, and data acquisition methods
  • Develop thin film deposition hardware, systems, and techniques
  • Participate in STI’s device and materials physics efforts
  • Maintain laboratory equipment including photolithographic processing tools, vacuum deposition systems, and thin film characterization tools

Ph.D. or equivalent degree in materials science, physics, electrical engineering or related discipline. Minimum 5 years experience in research and development of HTS and other thin film materials. Experience with thin film fabrication, analysis, and cryogenic measurements; prefer familiarity with RF measurements. Familiarity with clean room practices. Experience with operation and maintenance of thin film vacuum deposition and processing systems. Knowledge of chemical handling and waste disposal. Good understanding of materials issues in complex oxide systems and how they affect physical properties. Thin film characterization including x-ray diffraction, SEM, EDX, AFM, and profilometry analyses. Programming skills desired.
