STI has been a world leader in high temperature superconducting (HTS) materials since 1987, developing more than 100 patents as well as proprietary trade secrets and manufacturing know how. We are currently expanding our R&D team in Austin, TX to help us adapt our world-class HTS thin film process technology to produce second-generation (2G) HTS wire, a key enabling technology for emerging power generation and electric power grid applications. Responsibilities Include:

| Process Technician, Thin-Film |
Responsibilities Include:
> Operating and maintaining thin-film deposition systems
>
Measuring electrical properties of thin-film samples
>
Patterning samples utilizing photolithography
>
Using various metrology tools to characterize thin-film samples (XRD, AFM, EDAX, ICP, SEM, etc.)
> Maintaining laboratory equipment including photolithography tools and thin film characterization tools |
Education and Experience Desired:
> A minimum of two-year degree or higher in engineering, process technology or related field with a minimum of 3 years of clean room experience
>
Understanding safety and environmental requirements
>
Experience with thin-film vacuum system and handling samples/wafers in a clean room environment
>
Experienced in handling chemicals and wet bench > Experience or familiarity with photolithography and thin-film characterization
>
Good communication skills and ability to work as a team member
> Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) |

| Senior Technician - Equipment, Mechanical |
Responsibilities Include:
> Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment including photolithographic processing tools, high-vacuum deposition systems, and thin film characterization tools (x-ray diffraction, AFM, SEM, profilometry, etc.)
>
Primary support role in the construction, installation and setup of high vacuum deposition equipment and other laboratory tools
>
Maintain all equipment to achieve high level of safety and productivity
> Support engineers in running engineering tests for the development of new systems or enhancement of existing systems
>
Build new tooling and fixtures if needed for conducting engineering tasks
>
Train junior level technicians in the operation and maintenance of equipment
> Procurement of supplies, equipment, and chemicals and maintenance of safe laboratory practices |
Education and Experience Desired:
> AA degree in mechanical engineering with a minimum of 10 years experience
>
Thorough understanding of vacuum pumps, gauges, MFCs, and other laboratory equipment
>
Machining, welding, or soldering skills
>
Experience with operation and maintenance of thin film processing tools including aligners, ion mills, dicing saws, and thin film deposition systems
>
Experience with thin film deposition including e-beam, ion beam, or sputtering systems
> Experience with electrical testing of materials or circuits
>
Familiarity with clean room practices

| Process Engineer, IBAD |
Responsibilities Include:
>
Deposit metal oxide thin-films using the reel-to-reel Ion Beam Assisted Deposition (IBAD) tool
> Execute standard production processes while monitoring quality controls
>
Design DOEs, implement new recipes, develop new quality metrics
>
Maintenance of the IBAD tool (equipment troubleshooting, ion gun rebuilding, chamber cleaning, programming)
>
Design and build of custom modifications to the IBAD tool as required
> Thin film characterization: XRD, RHEED, and SEM |
Education and Experience Desired:
> BS or MS degree in Materials Science/Engineering, EE, or Physics
>
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a clean room environment
> Experience with operation of thin-film deposition equipment (sputter tools, e-beam evaporators, ion assisted deposition, plasma etchers)
>
LabView or skill in any other programming language.
>
Familiarity with maintenance of high vacuum equipment
>
Good communication skills and ability to work as a team member

| Process Engineer, Solution Coating |
Responsibilities Include:
> Optimize coating process for planarizing metallic substrates
>
Maintain coating equipment, including setup, basic maintenance and cleaning
>
Recommend modifications to the coating tool as required
>
Formulate coating solutions
> Coating characterization and quality control (XRD, optical microscopy, SEM, AFM, etc.) |
Education and Experience Desired:
> BS or MS degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or Applied Physics (other degrees will be considered with appropriate experience)
>
Minimum of 3 years of experience with thin-film deposition using solution deposition techniques required (dip coating, roll coating, spray coating)
>
Experience with large area coatings or web coating is a plus
>
Must have experience working with and handling flammable and hazardous solvents/materials
>
Experience with experimental design and applying those skills to optimize coating uniformity and quality required
>
Experience working in a clean room environment required
>
Sol-gel solution formulation experience and the handling of air/moisture sensitive materials is desired
>
Good communication skills and ability to work as a team member

Responsibilities Include:
> Balance & optimize requirements of RF performance, packaging, & link performance for wireless transmitter & receiver systems.
> Develop novel cryogenic systems for measuring performance of HTS wire in high magnetic fields & low temp.
> Scan Hall probe & squid, magneto-optical imaging, or other techniques.
> Characterization of complex oxide superconducting materials. FT.
