Martin A. Kaplan
Board Member, Chairman of the Governance and Nominating Committee

Mr. Kaplan joined STI's Board of Directors in December 2002, having served as a Director of Conductus, Inc. since 1996.

Mr. Kaplan retired in 2000 as an Executive Vice President of SBC. Prior to that he was an Executive Vice President of Pacific Bell and President of the Network Services Group. Mr. Kaplan retired after 40 years with Pacbell and SBC having held a wide variety of positions. He is a Director and non-executive Chairman of JDS Uniphase and a Director of Tekelec, Actelis Networks, Bevocal, and Entrisphere.

Mr. Kaplan earned a B.S. in engineering from the California Institute of Technology.
